The answer is in nature – the answer is in forests

The health of the planet and its inhabitants depends largely on water. For many it is an infinite resource that is available at the turn of a tap. For millions of others it is a scarce commodity to be used frugally, obtained from an external perhaps distant source. Considered precious by billions, when water sources run dry or it becomes unusable, challenging situations can quickly turn acute, as can be witnessed across the globe.
On 22 March, World Water Day, people and communities around the world will be asked to reflect on a key consideration: as demand for water grows we should look to nature for solutions and, delving deeper, to the world’s forests to provide the water we need to drink, grow our food and to make our lands more resilient.
