Bold, beautiful, and utterly broken
In the dense forests across the Americas, almost nothing can rival the raw power of a jaguar.
Fearsome and formidable - apex predators - you’d be forgiven for thinking they are thriving, flourishing in the tropical forests they call home.
But this couldn’t be further from the truth.
The modern world is closing in, and the jaguars’ precious habitat is under threat like never before.
The forest around them has been absolutely decimated.
Harsh, uncompromising conversion to monoculture and cattle pasture is destroying the jaguars’ only home. And - as their natural habitat dwindles and their prey depletes - they are being forced into the path of humans as they roam more widely in search of food.
But gone are the days when jaguars were revered by all, depicted as gods by ancient civilisations. Now, they are sought after for more sinister reasons.
Pointless, superficial, cosmetic reasons.
Where jaguars were once admired for their strength and skill, they are now desired for their body parts, used for trinkets and traditional medicines.
And it is costing them their lives.
Jaguars may be near-perfect predators, but their long, sharp claws are no match for the weapons of humans. Despite their extraordinary agility - both on land and in water - they are powerless in the face of habitat loss, persecution and poaching.
Jaguar numbers have plummeted in recent years - the global population has dropped by a shocking 20-25% in just three generations.
We can’t let this get any worse.
There’s still time to turn this around, but we need your help.
Your donations could support regular patrols and monitoring of vital forest habitat, helping to reduce illegal logging and poaching, as well as defusing any human-jaguar conflict and compensating farmers for lost livestock.
With your support, we can give these beautiful big cats the safe sanctuary they so desperately need. So please, donate now. Together, we can save jaguars.
Please help save jaguars. If everyone reading this donates just $3, you could help safeguard their vital tropical forest home, allowing them to thrive for years to come. Thank you.
