Lighting up with Lanterns

People across Asia are celebrating the Lantern Festival. Many are lighting up the sky and sending lanterns with wishes for luck, blessings, health & prosperity.

It's significance? The Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar, which was February 15 this year. The traditional festival signals the end of Spring Festival celebrations and brings the festive atmosphere to a final climax.

The three taikonauts aboard China's space station enjoyed a fortnight's holiday to celebrate the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival.
