Nearly half of the world’s renewable energy jobs are in China

China accounted for 43% of the world’s 10 million jobs in renewable energy in 2017, according to a new report from the International Renewable Energy Agency. China’s renewable energy job market grew by 5% from 2015 to 3.8 million jobs in 2017, reported The Observer. Two-thirds of the world’s solar PV jobs were in China (2.2 million jobs compared to 233,000 in the United States). Of those jobs in China, 1.4 million were in manufacturing, and 800,000 were in construction and installation. China also boasted 510,000 jobs in wind (versus 106,000 in the US) – close to half of the world’s wind jobs.
