Dear Colleagues,

In the context of an increasing global demand for wood-based products and an accentuation of climate change impacts on European forests, the role, challenges and opportunities that plantation forests and native forests offer requires an informed dialogue between scientists, policy-makers and practitioners.

An open seminar ‘Plantation forests to native forests: delivering multiple ecosystem benefits in a changing climate’ will be organised in connection with the European Forest Institute’s Annual Conference in Aberdeen, the European Forest City 2019, on 19 September. The roles of native and plantation forests in delivering ecosystem services and how they are perceived by society will be an important focus of the event.
