China’s
bike share companies have a lot of work to do to improve environmental
standards in their supply chain, according to the 2017 Corporate
Information Transparency Index (CITI), reported
Caijing.
In contrast, Apple topped the annual ranking that assesses
sustainability and transparency of domestic and international businesses
operating in China. Ma Jun, the director of the Institute of Public and
Environmental Affairs, which co-developed CITI with
the National Resource Defense Council, said that Chinese enterprises on
the whole performed worse than their international peers. He
particularly named pharmaceuticals as a sector that has consistently
failed to address pollution.
