Straw Bale Homes

Hi Jon

Straw is considered a rather useless
by-product of farming but enough is
harvested each year to produce 2 million
straw bale houses.

Unlike wood- it can be fully replenished
each year.

It happens to be an excellent building
material: it insulates well, and is fire
resistant.

In this video, see the construction of a
straw bale house that's totally off the
grid and uses solar hot water for radiant
floor heat.

Imagine living in an almost bio-degradable
house that's completely contemporary and
comfortable!

Welcome to Crestone, Colorado- where they
sing the praises of natural building!
