China-Canada diplomatic row

China has declared a Canadian diplomat "persona non grata" after Canada expelled a Chinese diplomat and accused him of interfering in its internal affairs.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin on Tuesday rejected the accusation and urged the Canadian side to stop political "slander and manipulation based on ideological bigotry." 

China is expelling the consul at Canada's consulate in Shanghai. The Chinese diplomat worked at China's consulate in Toronto.
