Yesterday was amazing. Over 4 million people joined the Youth Climate Strikes around the world!
|
Jon --
The youth climate strike yesterday was beyond anything I’d hoped. More than 4 million people marched, sang, danced, and went on strike to tell the world that our house is on fire… and we must act like it.
Since pictures tell it better than words, here are a few highlights:
|
There were record-breaking crowds at 4,500 strikes in 137 countries, with over 1,000 just in the US -- from Denver to Burlington to New York City to San Juan, Puerto Rico. I was inspired to see pictures from the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu, Uganda, Australia, South Africa, Pakistan, India. In Germany alone, 1.4 million people were out in the streets!
But this is just the beginning. With our future on the line, we have to grow the movement until we are big and strong enough to leave our elected officials no choice but to take the bold climate action we need. Sign up here to stay in the loop about upcoming action opportunities.
The solutions we need are ready to go -- all that's needed now is political will. That's where this movement comes in. Sign up here to join in and get updated for the next chance to take action.
People across the country are fighting for clean air and water, good jobs, public lands, justice for the communities most impacted by the climate crisis, and more. To change everything, it takes everyone -- and that includes you. There's a place for each of us.
Sign up here to join the movement.
