China has signed a series of high-profile fossil fuel deals with African countries at the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation, reports the ‘China Belt and Road’ Wechat account. In South Africa, China is investing in a coal mine, and in Egypt, a 6,600-megawatt “clean coal" power plant, and petrochemical plant. However, China also agreed to participate in an energy storage project in Egypt to help the country’s grid accomodate more renewable energy and nuclear power.
