China has vowed to deepen cooperation with African countries to address climate change. In its three-year action plan for China-Africa cooperation (2019-2021), published on the website of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, China has vowed 50 new aid projects related to climate change, the ocean, desertification and wildlife protection. China will also continue its work under the south-south climate change cooperation framework, which includes donations of equipment, and capacity building workshops for African officials. China also signed a bilateral MoU with South Africa on the sidelines of the Forum for China-Africa Cooperation. This will see the countries work together in several technical areas, including emissions trading, green urbanisation, carbon capture and storage, and greenhouse gas data management.
