Dear Regenerators,
Industrial agriculture has removed almost the same amount of carbon from the soil as deforestation, says a new
study
by the National Academy of Sciences, USA. For most people the image of
clearcutting forests is a bad omen for the climate. Now that our global
industrial food system has been compared to deforestation, heads are
turning in the climate and food movements. Now
more than ever people are looking for answers to how to feed the world
and cool the planet.
As
the problems associated with industrial agriculture become more
obvious, we’ll continue to promote the shovel-ready solutions inherent
in regenerative agriculture and
land management. Let’s keep educating our communities, investing in
local regenerative agriculture, and using our farms and gardens to put
the carbon back where it belongs, in the soil!

Forward,
The Regeneration International Team

The
Living Soils Symposium October 13-15 Montreal, Canada. This three-day bilingual event will bring together scientists, academics, food producers, activists and many others to discuss the crucial role soils play in addressing some of the world's biggest problems: climate change, food security, public health and loss of biodiversity. Can we cool the planet while feeding the world? Come learn about the living soils solution.

NASEM Science Breakthroughs 2030 Town Hall DebriefRegeneration International (RI) sponsored Dr. Richard Teague and Dr. David Johnson at the recent National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine town hall which focused on: "Science Breakthroughs 2030: A Strategy for Food and Agricultural Research." After the town hall, RI debriefed Teague and Johnson, along with other leading scientists Dr. Rattan Lal and Tim LaSalle, to get their take on the challenges and opportunities food and agriculture will face in the coming decades.
