Here’s what happened at the UNESCO Meeting

Hi Jon,
The UNESCO’s 43rd meeting ended on a low note, failing to protect the Sundarbans mangrove forests from the threat of coal.
The UNESCO World Heritage Committee’s 21 member states decided to not add the Sundarbans Forest of Bangladesh to the List of World Heritage Sites in Danger during its annual session, despite the global demands sent from all over the world asking it to save the world’s largest mangrove forest.
Though the committee postponed the decision to add the Sundarbans to the list of endangered sites till 2020, we want to thank every one of you for taking action to save the Sundarbans.
Your voice is instrumental in building pressure on UNESCO. The 50,000-strong petition was recognised during the discussions on the Sundarbans. We still need more people to join us so let’s keep the momentum going.
Onwards,
Jenny and the 350.org team
