Hi Jon,
A healthy ocean is vital for sustaining all life on earth. It is home to millions of species, helps in our fight against climate change, and provides food security around the world.
Yet less than 3% of the ocean is highly protected from harm. Even when countries designate Marine Protected Areas, they often do not manage them in practice.
Destructive fishing practices and damaging infrastructure projects still continue. Or countries fail to put in place adequate conservation measures. All of this undermines the ability for fish populations and other wildlife to recover naturally -
putting them at risk of extinction.
But we can use the law to drive change, and with your help we are:
- Fighting against a gas extraction project in the Mediterranean that’s threatening endangered Bottlenose dolphins and Loggerhead sea turtles.
- Advocating for sustainable seafood so fish stocks are healthy and available for future generations.
- Pushing for stricter plastics laws to turn off the oversupply of single-use plastics which often end up polluting the ocean.
