China's Taijiquan and Wangchuan ceremonies, jointly declared by China and Malaysia, were officially inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on Thursday.
With a total of 42 intangible cultural heritage items, the inclusions mean China is now ranked first in the world on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.
The decision was made during the online meeting of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage held from December 14-19 in Jamaica, which reviewed 50 intangible cultural heritage items declared by 57 countries.
