After weeks of space travel, the Chang'e-5 lunar probe returned home on Thursday morning Beijing Time.
Chinese President Xi Jinping lauded the success of the Chang'e-5 mission, which brought back the country's first samples of rocks and soil from the moon in more than four decades.
It is a major milestone in China's space program and will deepen the understanding of the origin of the moon and the evolutionary history of the solar system, Xi noted.

China promised to share a portion of the lunar soil with other nations and organizations based on international cooperation conventions, said Wu Yanhua the deputy head of China's space agency on Thursday when asked whether China will share samples with NASA.
