Testing updates
We’ve increased our capacity to process more COVID-19 tests and are testing all patients with COVID-19 symptoms. Soon we’ll open our testing lab in Berkeley which will have the capacity to process 10,000 COVID-19 tests per day. This will help ensure we can continue to identify and treat infections as well as reduce future spread of illness. We're thankful to the City of Berkeley, our lab teams, and construction partners who've been working day and night to build this lab in just 60 days.
Explore our online coronavirus resource center with updated FAQs about COVID-19 testing. You’ll find answers to many common questions, like who should be tested and how to get information on drive-up testing. To learn more, visit our "
Testing for COVID-19” FAQs.
Elective surgeries, procedures, and safety measures
As our communities begin to reopen, we’re starting to schedule elective surgeries and procedures that were postponed over the last several months. While we’re making every effort to schedule for all patients who were impacted, we’re prioritizing those whose clinical conditions require the most immediate attention.
We’re also implementing safety measures to continue to protect our patients, staff, and communities, including:
- Expanding testing capacity so all patients can have COVID-19 testing before surgeries and certain procedures ordered by their doctor
- Ensuring all staff are using appropriate personal protective equipment
- Intensive cleaning of our facilities throughout the day
- Reconfiguring facilities, including waiting areas and cafeterias, to ensure safe environments that promote physical distancing and prevent crowds
- Temperature checks and screenings at facility entrances
- Visitor restrictions
- Adherence to mask requirements for those entering our facilities
