The Ministry of Ecology and Environment says that more than 40% of the work to improve drinking water sources in provinces is behind schedule. The Paperreports that the ministry launched a campaign to clean up the sources in March, addressing 6,251 environmental problems caused by pollution in 1,586 water sources in 276 cities. The remediation is supposed to be 75% complete by the end of the year but so far 52 cities are less than halfway done and four cities haven’t done anything. Meanwhile, the Yangtze river belt is on track and Shanghai in particular is leading.
