The Mississippi River Valley’s forest ecosystem is a vital habitat for migratory birds and numerous plant and animal species, but the wetlands’ original 25 million acres of forestland have been reduced to less than 5 million acres.
Scientific American is working with the Arbor Day Foundation to restore this important region. Through your digital subscriptions, we hope to plant more than a thousand trees with the Foundation, which will revitalize the river valley and allow life to flourish there for generations to come.
