No trees, no koalas.

Koala seeking refuge
TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR KOALAS IN NSW

Hi jon,

Does this koala look out of place to you?

Unfortunately, this is the reality for our NSW koala populations.

Excessive tree-clearing in parts of NSW has meant koalas have nowhere else to go. Their homes have been torn down. They have nowhere to sleep, eat or live.

This poor koala found herself stuck up a power pole after her home was torn down a few kilometres from where she was found. She was alone, scared and dehydrated – having been stuck there for two days during an extreme heatwave.

Fortunately for this little koala, she was rescued by wildlife carer Clare Gover. She was given water and fresh leaves to eat and after an overnight rest was returned back to the wild.

Sadly, not all koalas are as lucky as this one. Koalas in New South Wales are in absolute crisis. The NSW Government has unfortunately further weakened tree-clearing laws, greenlighting the destruction of koala habitat across the state.

If we don’t act now, we’ll see a repeat of what happened in parts of southeast Queensland, where out of control clearing has killed a shocking 80% of koalas.

I spoke with Clare recently. She was blunt about the future our koalas are facing:

“The tree the koala needs to survive is being destroyed at an unprecedented rate. If we don’t save the habitat for east coast koalas, we’ll lose them, and our grandkids will never see them in the wild.”

Will you please stand with me to help stop this tragedy by sending your urgent, tax-deductible donation today?

Your urgent support today could help:
Provide bandages and medicines to treat injured koalas
Rehabilitate koalas and get them ready for a return to the wild
Plant trees to create homes and safe green corridors for threatened koala communities
Demand our government stop excessive tree-clearing and protect wildlife for the long-term.Together, we can – and we must - make a difference for koalas and other beautiful creatures that make this country so special.

I hope you’ll join us to fight for koalas and the trees they call home.

Sincerely,
Dermot O'Gorman
