Jon, Responding to the reality of shuttered classrooms and COVID-19, teachers around the globe have been tasked with the enormous responsibility of adapting to remote learning. Earth Day Network honors the educators that have risen above and beyond to transition to digital learning, while still integrating environmental activities and experiences into the curriculum. Earlier this year, EDN launched the Earth Day Schools initiative, to highlight how teachers have incorporated environmental education into their schools and connect educators and students committed to building environmental literacy for a more sustainable future. We see teachers as activists because they guide their students to become their best selves — to be superheroes of many forms that take on the world’s challenges. To read more about the innovative ways teachers adapted to Digital Earth Day, check out our recent teacher spotlight blog. Even during these times of social distancing and virtual platforms, EDN’s Education Department is hard at work creating resources to support educators to increase climate and environmental literacy year-round. We are committed to expanding opportunities for climate and environmental education around the world in order to develop a citizenry ready and willing to take action for a more equitable and sustainable future. Join us today and take the pledge to support climate and environmental literacy! Stay tuned for information about summer resources for parents and teachers and more updates about Earth Day Network’s Climate and Environmental Literacy Campaign launching this summer. If you are interested in environmental education resources and stories, please sign up for our Educator Network Newsbites. If you are a teacher put your school on the map by signing up as an Earth Day School. Wishing everyone a safe, healthy and nature-filled summer! Sincerely, The Education Department
