We have written an Open Letter to Philanthropy: Worldwide Ecocide to several key philanthropists, and we invite you to join our call to them for: (1) a declaration of emergency, then, (2) funding action consistent with the reckoning with that declared emergency.
On May 6th, the release of the UN’s Global Assessment Report, makes clear the collapse of biodiversity, putting it on par with the climate threat, in terms of humanity’s survival. We are consistently slashing and burning the life-support systems of humanity and our fellow creatures.
Thousands of reliable scientists and analysts, along with every major scientific group are consistently explaining that all we need to do to consign humanity to near extinction is to continue our current economic, social, political, and moral operating systems.
Following that release, we have issued an Open Letter to the Hewlett Foundation, Packard Foundation, Grantham Foundation, and Gates Foundation – asking them to:
While many people are very cynical about big-money wealth, and of Philanthropy to boot, there is no other group, entity, or political system that has either the ways or the means to come to our collective aid in this moment of dire need.
