President Xi’s trip began with a state visit to South Africa at the
invitation of President Ramaphosa. A joint statement praised the growth of
relations between the two countries, and China welcomed South Africa’s
commitment to build a modern state and embrace diversity. Ramaphosa
awarded Xi the Order of South Africa.
According to Xin Ge, CGTN commentator and professor at Shanghai University of
Finance and Economics, the partnership between China and South Africa is remarkably robust.
More headlines
China Media Group and South African Broadcasting Corporation announced a documentary series marking a quarter century
of diplomatic ties between the two countries, “25 Years On – Documenting
China-South Africa Friendship and Cooperation.”
CMG also reached a cooperation and exchange agreement with the University of Johannesburg.
