The forefront of the climate movement is female

International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples

Dear Jon,

Indigenous women are disproportionately affected by the climate crisis — and they are critical to the fight to halt it.

Yet too often, many Indigenous women are left out of the decision-making and management of environmental resources.

The urgent work of protecting nature and halting climate breakdown is not possible without leadership from the Indigenous women and men who are stewards of the world’s ecosystems. Effective conservation impacts entire societies — therefore women must be a part of decision-making.

At Conservation International, we are proud to partner with and share the stories of these powerful Indigenous women leaders.
