Side Event at COP23: The Nitric Acid Climate Action Group: Paving the Way for a Sector-wide Transformation

Dear colleagues,

We are happy to invite you to our Side Event at COP23 in Bonn on “The Nitric Acid Climate Action Group: Paving the Way for a Sector-wide Transformation”. The side event, organized by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), the German chemical industry association (VCI), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the World Bank, will take place on Friday, November 10, from 3:30 – 4:00 pm at the German Pavilion in the Bonn-Zone.

The Nitric Acid Climate Action Group (NACAG), launched by BMUB, is a global initiative to phase out nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from the production of nitric acid. The NACAG is providing pre-2020 climate finance for the mitigation of N2O from nitric acid production while aiming at incentivizing the long-term transformation of the sector towards the permanent employment of abatement technology.

Speakers will present the current state of NACAG and discuss the initiative from their various perspectives.

Speakers:

Jochen Flasbarth - State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety of Germany
Dr. Utz Tillmann - Managing Director of the German chemical industry association (VCI)
World Bank Representative (to be announced)
Enrico Rubertus – GIZ, Director of the NACAG Secretariat

We are looking forward to seeing you next Friday!

Best regards

The NACAG Secretariat
