Learn How to Draw the Painted Bunting

Dear Jon,

The Painted Bunting has breathtaking rainbow-colored plumage. Celebrate Pride month with queer birder and artist Fiona Gillogly as she demonstrates how to draw and paint a Painted Bunting.

In this one-hour class, learn how to sketch the Painted Bunting, use shade to enhance a drawing, and play with color. All you need is a pencil, paper, colored pencils, or watercolors. Beginners welcome!

Register now for the Painted Bunting class on Thursday, June 16, from 12 - 1pm PT.

Fiona is an emerging artist with a passion for birds and nature journaling. She has created more than 2,000 nature journal pages since 2016. At the age of 18, she has published essays and illustrations in the ABA’s Birding magazineChildren & Nature Network's Finding Nature News Blog, and NatureJournalingWeek.com. Visit Fionasongbird.com to see her prolific nature journaling artwork.

If you would like to learn more about bird drawing skills, check out Audubon’s How to Draw Birds class page, which contains recordings of all our previous classes with Fiona and John Muir Laws.

Audubon’s Let’s Go Birding Together program creates safe and inviting spaces for LGBTQIA++ people, families, and allies to enjoy birds and the outdoors. Birding is for everyone, no matter whom you love.

Sharpen your pencils – we look forward to seeing you in class!
