These women are leading the
way
to a sustainable future
Dear Jon,
There's plenty of data to show that giving women equal resources would help save the planet. Today, on International Forest Day, we're celebrating the women who are, directly or indirectly, protecting forests around the world.

These are women like Agung
Widi, a fierce advocate for cocoa farmers—especially women farmers—in Jembrana,
Bali. After corruption and bankruptcy had all but destroyed a local coop, Widi
single-handedly revitalized it, and now its 600 members enjoy better livelihoods
while working the land in ways that can be sustained for years to come. And
Widi didn't stop there: She also works on national policy reform to bring these
benefits to cocoa farmers all over the country.
If we want a livable future, rural women must have access to the same resources, training, and opportunities as their male counterparts. Meet Agung and some of the other incredible women we work with who are showing what's possible, and learn how they have successfully transformed their communities and the landscapes around them.
