Let's celebrate something good.

May 3, 2023

It's hard not to get stuck in the doom and gloom. It's constant. It's everywhere.

So it's more important than ever - vital - that when something good happens, we take a moment to focus on the positive and the species we have saved.

This is one of those times.

Two years ago, the immense area of rainforest known as Boden Creek in Belize saw one of our biggest breakthroughs. With your help, and the support of Ya'axché Conservation Trust, we were able to secure this crucial area of land - saving many, many, many species.

Without intervention, the forest and its wildlife would likely have been lost to large-scale agriculture. It would have been nothing short of a tragedy.

But - thanks to you - we were able to step in.

Now, two years later, the results are outstanding.

Precious jaguars, which would otherwise have been left exposed to poaching, are able to roam far and wide throughout the forest.

Threatened monkeys are able to swing through the trees - trees that would otherwise have been felled.

Rare birds are able to make their homes amongst the dense branches and greenery, soaring over a forest that was so close to being lost.

There is still much to do, but the results so far prove that all the hard work has already been more than worth it. Just recently, we heard from the dedicated ranger team supported by Ya'axché and Fauna & Flora, who reported that their data have confirmed a significant decrease in logging and other illegal activities - this is incredible news.

So what next? We are currently working hard to put the land under the protection of local conservation groups, as they are the ones best placed to manage it.

But for now, we can be safe in the knowledge that many jaguars, monkeys, birds, ocelots and hundreds of other species, are safe. We really couldn't have done it without your support - thank you.
