Earth Day | The next generation depends on us.

Dear Jon,
For environmental lawyer Neung, Earth Day isn't just about reaffirming his commitment to protecting the planet and advocating for communities that continue to fight against mega-projects on the rivers that sustain them. Earth Day is also his son's birthday. Neung named his son Than Dham, which means Justice River in Northern Thai.
“Our children’s generation, we don’t know what will happen, how the world will change when they grow up. The one thing that we can do now is just keep a good environment, good culture, good relationships to each other.”
When he was younger, Neung left his well-paid position at a bank to fight against dams on the Salween River near the Myanmar-Thai border. Now, as EarthRights International's Mekong Legal Associate, he trains local activists on environmental law and advocates to develop transboundary legal tools to hold corporations accountable for their impacts on communities.
