UCS on "A House of Dynamite" - Nov. 12 virtual discussion

November 3, 2025

Dear Jon,

Kathryn Bigelow's new film, A House of Dynamite, premiered on Netflix on October 24. And experts from the Global Security Program at the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) consider it required viewing for anyone interested in this topic of nuclear weapons.

UCS invites you to a virtual discussion on A House of Dynamite with our expert on missile defense and nuclear weapons, Dr. Laura Grego. We encourage you to watch the film for yourself and join us for a live Q&A about the dangers of nuclear weapons and the high stakes and pressures the United States would be under to choose how to respond to a nuclear attack.

A House of Dynamite: UCS Expert Q&A
Date: Wednesday, November 12
Time: 8:00–9:00 p.m. ET

Register for the virtual discussion today.

A House of Dynamite is a sobering example of what happens if we don't walk ourselves back from the edge of nuclear brinksmanship. Our experts have a clear takeaway: nuclear weapons are a liability, not an asset.

The risk of nuclear war is the highest it has been since the Cold War—and the United States is still pursuing a massive, trillion-dollar buildup of new nuclear weapons and pursuing a destabilizing weaponization of space that will push adversaries to develop new weapons. But there are steps we can take right now to reduce the risk of nuclear weapons and keep us safer.

Dr. Laura Grego, PhD, Senior Research Director in the UCS Global Security Program, will answer your questions and dig deeper into what you see in the film, and the realities surrounding those systems today.

Please register today and we hope you can join us on November 12.

Sincerely,

Hunter Noffsinger

P.S. You can also take action to dismantle the real US house of dynamite: send a message to your members of Congress to stop dangerous plans to expand the nuclear weapons complex.
