A total of 103,965 local COVID-19 cases were registered in China's 29 provinces in March, an official from the National Health Commission said at a press conference on Friday.
About 90 percent of the cases were reported in the northeastern province of Jilin and the coastal metropolitan Shanghai.
Shanghai is currently experiencing its worst COVID-19 outbreak since the pandemic started in early 2020.

The Response
To help tackle their headaches, Shanghai has announced a series of measures to offer support.
One of the important policies is tax reductions. Starting from April 1, value-added tax will be waived for small enterprises that pay a three percent tax rate.
The Shanghai municipal government announced that a new round of nucleic acid testing will begin in regions east of the Huangpu River. So far, Shanghai's economic activities have remained in order, as financial markets stay open during the lockdown to ensure the continuity of capital flows. Watch this video for more details.
