This first call for Partnerships from the Global Initiative on Information Integrity on Climate Change specifically focuses on:

  • gathering and producing evidence on how climate change is impacted by information disorders;
  • developing evidence-based communication strategies to counter these threats; and
  • supporting investigative journalism initiatives that expose misleading narratives and promote public understanding.

For that, understanding, with emphasis on the Global South, the dynamics of phenomena such as dis/misinformation, conspiracy theories, orchestrated campaigns that have the major goal to undermine consolidated scientific knowledge as the foundation of evidence-based policies is a key step in the global actions to address the climate crisis.

The first Call for Proposals is open until 6th July 2025 for not-for-profit organizations, active and registered for at least two years. Budget per project will range from USD 30,000 to USD 150,000. Applications can be submitted in English, French and Spanish.

Non-governmental organizations (NGOs), research institutes, universities, not-for-profit investigative journalism organizations, and others will be empowered with funding to conduct in-depth research and report accurately on the climate emergency, improving the quality of public discourse and media coverage, always keeping scientific and editorial independence.

Beyond funding, selected entities will form a first-of-its-kind global and interdisciplinary network to foster information integrity on climate change and produce actionable recommendations for innovative policies worldwide.

The Global Initiative strongly encourages the application from entities from low and lower-middle economies, working on diverse languages, and members of regional and global networks.

Information on eligibility and the process for application is available at the United Nations Global Marketplace.

The Global Initiative invites everyone to amplify the reach of this opportunity and share it through their own networks. The threat to information integrity on climate change is a major global risk. The Global Initiative and its partners trust it deserves a global response.
