A total of 88.16 million trips were made in China during the three-day Mid-Autumn Festival holiday in 2021, according to the country's culture and tourism authorities.
The first national holiday of the second half of 2021, the festival saw an increase in travel demand.
In addition, China's box office raked in over 498 million yuan ($77 million) during this year's Mid-Autumn Festival holiday (September 19-21), according to the data from box office tracking platform Beacon on Wednesday.
The figure was 38.18 percent lower than that of the same period in 2019 before COVID-19 struck, hitting its lowest since 2018.
