Dear Colleagues,
In almost exactly two months from now the XXV World Congress of the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO) will be inaugurated in the Brazilian city of Curitiba. Up to 3000 participants are expected at this major event where they will share their latest findings and talk about trends for the future of forestry and forest research with a view to the common theme “Forest Research and Cooperation for Sustainable Development”.
On September 30, the first day of the Congress, a Science Meets Stakeholders Dialogue will take place to discuss how forests and forest products across the entire value chain can most effectively contribute to avoiding global warming.
Representatives from organizations focused on policy, business, science and various groups of civil society with an interest in forests and trees will be invited to share their expectations of forest research with regard to tackling the challenges of climate change. While ADAPTATION is equally important, this Dialogue will concentrate on the MITIGATION role of forests and forest products.
In preparation for this Dialogue we have prepared a brief survey focusing on four key questions. The survey can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/ r/iufro2019-stakeholder- predialogue-survey
In this regard, we would sincerely appreciate your support by distributing this survey as broadly as possible within your respective organizations and constituencies. Depending on how much detail respondents wish to share, completing the survey will take about 5-15 minutes. Please note that this survey is anonymous and IP address will not be recorded.
The deadline for completing the survey is 31 August 2019.
Your contribution and support in distributing the survey will help us to draw the big picture and set the scene for the Science Meets Stakeholders Dialogue. The main results of this survey will be presented during the Science Meets Stakeholders Dialogue. In addition, they will be shared with other interested groups together with the results of the Dialogue.
I thank you in advance for your contribution and support!
